Know before you go
If you are a foreign national and plan on traveling to Uganda for tourism, business, or other reasons, you will need a visa to enter the country. Uganda has visa requirements in place for most foreign visitors, apart from those from countries that have established visa exemption agreements with Uganda.
E-Visa
All people intending to travel to Uganda, whether for tourism, business, study, visits, medical treatment, etc. must apply for and obtain one of the following permits or visas:
Single entry Tourist Visa
The single entry tourist visa for Uganda is a convenient and essential document for travelers looking to explore the captivating beauty of this East African nation. This visa allows visitors to enter Uganda for tourism purposes and enjoy all the incredible attractions the country has to offer.
With this visa, you can:
Stay in Uganda for up to 3 months at a time.
Enjoy a holidays, visit your family or friends or cruise, or attend a cultural event.
- Visa allows you to enter Uganda one time.
To be eligible for this visa, you must:
Have a valid passport: The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Uganda.
Have booked the return flight.
Recent Passport size Photograph.
Be vaccinated against yellow fever.
Multiple entries tourist visa
The multiple entry tourist visa for Uganda is a type of visa that allows you to enter Uganda multiple times within a specified period of time. The visa is valid for 6, 12, or 24 months, ith entry and exit during the period of validity of the visa requested.
With this visa you can:
Stay in Uganda up to 6/12/24 month depends on the visa type you choose.
Enter multiple times to Uganda.
Enjoy a holidays, visit your family or friends or cruise, or attend a cultural event.
To be elegible for this visa you must:
Passport with at least 6 months validity.
Recent Passport size Photograph.
Valid Police clearance from Interpol or home country.
Recommendation letter from referee two (2) in Uganda.
Recommendation letter from referee one (1) in Uganda.
Cover Letter stating reasons for Multiple Entry.
Proof entries and exits into Uganda in the last one year.
Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Fever).
East Africa tourist visa
The East Africa Tourist Visa (E-Visa) is a multiple-entry visa that allows you to travel to Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda for tourism purposes. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.
With this visa you can:
Stay in Kenya, Rwanda or/and Uganda up to 30 days.
Enjoy a holidays, visit your family or friends or cruise, or attend a cultural event.
Enter multiple times to each country.
To be elegible for this visa you must:
Travel itinerary (Detailed Tour Plan).
Return Ticket.
Vaccination Certificate (Yellow fever).
Copy of recent Passport size Photograph.
Passport with atleast 6 months validity.
Transit visa:
A Transit visa is a travel document that allows you to pass through Uganda while en route to another destination. The visa is valid for 1-7 days from the date of arrival.
With this visa you can:
Travel through Uganda in a maximum of 7 days.
To be elegible for this visa you must:
Passport with at least 6 months validity
A letter stating reason for transit and country of destination
Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Fever)
Recent Passport size Photograph

COVID-19 Requirements
Uganda has been determined as a low-risk zone for Covid-19. Covid vaccines are not required, but recommended, especially in conjunction with other vaccines for the listed problematic diseases. The country has no official closure or lockdown in effect preventing travel due to Covid-19.
If you are symptomatic, it is advised to delay any travel plans until full recovery with negative tests. No testing is required before or after arrival in Uganda.
